For our children, the sound of rain used to mean cozy evenings. But lately, a quiet anxiety ripples through the rooms. The older children automatically start moving shoes and mattresses to higher ground. The younger ones peer out the window, watching the playground they love vanish beneath a stagnant, muddy lake.
Right now, even normal rains turn our grounds into floodwaters. With the official El Niño warning in Kenya, this daily struggle is about to become an absolute crisis. Severe flooding threatens to destroy the very buildings that shield these children, contaminate the water sources they rely on for health, and wipe out regional food supplies.

We have a plan to protect every single child under our care by installing rainwater harvesting facilities. By trapping and filtering the heavy downpours, we will completely prevent destructive flooding on our grounds.
Instead of a disaster, the rain will become a permanent, clean water source that sustains our children and keeps our food gardens flourishing through the aftermath.
